MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA REGARDING MEASURES ON JAPANESE FISHERMAN DETAINED IN KOREA AND ON KOREAN RESIDENTS IN JAPAN DETAINED UNDER DEPORTATION ORDER
The Governments of the Republic of Korea and of Japan have agreed to take the following measures:
1. The Government of the Republic of Korea will repatriate to Japan the Japanese fishermen who have served out their sentences and are being detained at the Aliens Detention Camp of Korea; and will accept the deportation of the Korean illegal entrants.
2. The Government of Japan will release those Koreans who have been residing in Japan since before the end of war and who are being detained at the Aliens Detention Camps of Japan under deportation order.
3. The present memorandum of understanding shall come into force on the date of signature.
