AMENDMENTS TO ORAL STATEMENT
1) Insert the following in a proper place:
The Government of Korea appreciates that the U.S. Government accepts our position that every Korean repatriatee from Japan should receive compensation paid by the Japanese Government.
2) Third paragraph should read:
As we iterated time and again, we cannot accept the principle of the free choice of residence on this particular case of Korean residents in Japan. However, the Korean Government now considers it urgent to settle once and for all the problem of Korean residents in Japan to prevent the current situation from being further deteriorated. And this issue should be and can be settled best by direct and bilateral negotiation of governmental level between Korean and Japan.
