Sir,
I have today read your cable message answering that you would today leave Nagasaki on your 1st visit to Corea and would return to that port and asking if the Department has any advice. This Department has no further instruction to give and can only repeat its orders for you to proceed to San Francisco touching at the Sandwich Islands if advisable en route, unless something should be developed on your visit to Corea which would warrant for remaining longer in Japan and asking advice by Cable.
