Title | Civil Servant | ||
---|---|---|---|
This is a detailed view of the mounted civil servant in the procession on the eastern wall of the antechamber in Tokhung-ri Tomb. This mounted civil servant can be seen in the second line (from the top) of the procession immediately following the leading carriage. Unlike the military attachés escorting the entire procession, the civil servants are directly affiliated with the central figures in the mural.
The civil servant's attire is identical to those of the 13-county prefects on the western wall and the civil servants in the Depiction of the Government House on the southern wall. In other words, he is dressed in a yellow robe with wide sleeves and a Chaek (headwear) with the top split in the back and curving forward. Although civil servants appear in various scenes on different murals, they are estimated to be the same 13-county prefects.
In stark contrast to the heavy steps of the Gaemamusa (iron-armored lancer) horses, the civil servant's horse seems very light-footed. The horse's legs are too slender for its body, making its overall appearance rather odd. The red-furred horse is known as a Jeoktoma (red stallion; not to be confused with the legendary Red Hare owned by the Chinese General General Lü Bu).
